Experiencing Buddhism I am not a rattling uncanny person. To me, each religion is ab forththing you bind to make a reefer of your life: the way you can be a vegan or a republican; you can be a Buddhistic or a Christian. If you call yourself one you are decidedly one, because you choose to be. Commitment is a large part of it as well. Though I am not religious, I am spiritual, and believe that each religion respectively is and has its own guidelines for practicing spirituality in a different way. Before entering the temple, I had a vague idea of what would be taught based on the things I had learned in class so far, but no idea of the people that would gather at the temple or what would happen during the sermon. Any attraction I had almost immediately fell away as I adjusted to the calm energy that pervaded the building; it seemed to straighten down from the ceiling and enclose everything, including all persons that entered its doors.
